Callington III v Ladock

A brilliant century by Matthew Rickard helped Callington to their second win of the weekend on Sunday against Ladock.

Ladock batted first and their openers put on 82 in 22 overs for the first wicket to set up a big score. All of the Ladock batsmen made contributions but the home side kept plugging away without much luck until the final over when Gary Williams, in his first game of the season, took three wickets, all of them bowled. 228 was a good total but not an unatainable one.

Openers Ray Hatch and Paul Firth made a steady start, putting on 32 in 13 overs until Firth was bowled for 14. This was to be Ladock's only success however, as Rickard launched an astonishing attack. In a partnership of 197, he scored an unbeaten 147 which included 9 sixes. Hatch finished with 59 not out as Callington romped home with eight overs still remaining.
