ART activity packs are being distributed to children in North and East Cornwall thanks to Arts Council England and the Liskeard-based Real Ideas Organsiation (RIO).
The ’Let’s Create’ bags are filled with supplied including pens, pencils, paper, crayons and a scrapbook as well as an activity book put together by art teacher Andria Zafirakou, winner of the 2018 Global Teacher Prize.
RIO is working with local partners and charities including Together for Families in Cornwall to get the packs to those who need them most – and they are expected to reach more than 5,000 people in the South West.
Across the country, 25,000 packs, funded with National Lottery money, are being delievered by RIO and its partner groups.
Behind the packs is the aim of keeping children and young people engaged and creative during the Covid-19 lockdown, and to ensure that children most in need of support do not miss out on the health, wellbeing, and educational benefits of creativity while they’re away from school.
