SUMMER deserted Looe Bay with strong South West winds and heavy rain, more suited to ducks.

However, the stalwarts of Looe Sailing Club braved the elements and produced fine boat-handling in the conditions.

New addition to the Laser class, Ben Crabb, showed his old Redwing prowess to take the day's top spot ahead of another ex-Redwing boy, Richard Vasey, who finished a close second.

Third over the line came Peter Greenwood, with his tail between his legs.

In the Mirror Class young Jack Spree continues to shine and, with Billy Palfrey crewing, showed the older fleet members how it's done. Teams Bowdler and Jaycock were both fighting it out for podium positions and forgot the race leader's tactics and lost sight of first place.

Coming up on the rails and improving week by week are young Adam Hayler and crew Jasmine Toms, who finished a very creditable fourth in the difficult conditions.
