This year’s Christmas garland at Cotehele, near St Dominick, goes on show to the public tomorrow.
The team at the Tudor house pride themselves on producing the longest festive garland of any National Trust property in the country. The length of the garland suspended from the ceiling of the Great Hall will measure 60ft and will incorporate 34,000 flowers. There will also be a 40ft extension around the east doorway made up of another 12,000 flowers.
The garland will be on public display every day viewed daily – except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day – until New Year’s Eve. Other decorations in the Great Hall will include conifer and mahonia around the doorways, set off with native berries from the garden, and beech and hazel branches hung from the walls.
