A CORNISH helpline is offering support on all aspects of employment, skills and training as people navigate the coronavirus crisis.
The People Hub helpline (0333 0150699) was launched last month by Cornwall Development Company on behalf of Cornwall Council.
Over the last six weeks People Hub has been providing crucial information to callers on a range of issues, from jobs and redundancy to benefits and financial help.
Clare Harris, People Hub manager said: ’It’s a challenging time for everyone currently, we are receiving calls from people who are employed but worried about being furloughed or made redundant, as well as those who may be looking to retrain and develop new skills in readiness for the future. There are unemployed people out there wondering what options are still open to them during lockdown and self-employed people who may want some guidance. People Hub offers callers a chance to share their concerns, and our team will talk through their options, provide information, and signpost onto other specialist agencies.’
Mike King, managing director of Cornwall Development Company, said: ’We were tasked by Cornwall Council to set up and run this emergency hotline. We have a track record of effectively handling the concerns of businesses across Cornwall, supporting them to find solutions and navigate economic uncertainties. During these unprecedented times, I’m pleased that we’ve embraced this challenge and been able to broaden this remit to individuals.’
The People Hub is open from Monday to Friday between 10am–5pm.
