Cornwall Youth Cricket Festival
The popular week-long Cornwall Youth Cricket Festival gets underway on Sunday 16th August with an increased participation. The event is in its 13th year and has a change of name, previously being known as the St Gluvias Youth Cricket Festival. The Festival remains based at St Gluvias CC and will also be using the adjacent Penryn College ground.
There is also a slight change of format for this year's competition. The Under 11 and 13 competitions remain with 20 and 16 teams respectively having entered. Instead of Under 16 and 19 tournaments, there will be Under 15 and Under 17 (6-a-side) competitions instead. The Under 15 tournament had 13 entries while there are 10 Under 17 entrants.
Overall, 21 clubs have entered a total of 59 teams. Competing clubs are as follows: Bude, Camborne, Gorran, Grampound Road, Falmouth, Helston, Liskeard, Ludgvan, Newquay, Paul, Perranarworthal, Penzance, Redruth, St Austell, St Erme, St Gluvias, St Just, St Stephen, Truro, Wendron and West Dulwich (guests).
Sunday 15th - Under 11 Softball tournament, 10am start; Monday 16th - Under 13/17 qualifying; Tuesday 17th - Under 13/15/17 qualifying; Wednesday 18th - Under 15/17 qualifying; Thursday 19th - Under 13 finals and at 5.40pm, Cornish Eights: Cornwall VIII vs Overseas VIII; Friday 20th - Under 15/17 finals.
Play begins at 9.30am each day. Under 17's from after 5pm.
