Planning ahead
for Royal Show
PLANNING for this year's Royal Cornwall Show is underway as normal and entries are still being processed in the normal way. The show will go ahead even if the decision has to be taken not to run the livestock classes - as long as government restrictions allow.
Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association secretary, Chris Riddle, said: 'At this stage it is impossible to know whether or not livestock sections in this year's show will be affected by the outbreak of foot and mouth disease currently hitting the country. We are planning for all eventualities and at this stage working towards what we hope will be a very successful show. It will give the industry a much needed lift.'
Money for a
village project
THE village of Blisland, which is raising money to build an all-in-one building housing a post office, doctor's surgery, shop, and other community service facilities, has been boosted by a grant from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly community fund.
Lakes are open
IN last week's Cornish Times we stated that Bake Fishing Lakes at Trerulefoot were closed during the foot and mouth outbreak. This was due to wrong information supplied to us. The lakes are open as usual for fishing. For further informationcall 07798 585836 or 01752 849027.
