Woman's
purse snatched
in Liskeard
AN elderly woman had her purse snatched as she walked along Sungirt Lane in Liskeard on Wednesday.
The mugger struck in broad daylight just after 1pm and ran off after the crime. The woman was unhurt but shaken. Her purse contained a small amount of cash.
Liskeard CID is appealing for anyone who saw the incident or saw anyone running away from the area.

Leader hits
out at vandals
THE leader of Cornwall county council has hit out at vandals after the sign outside County Hall was spray-painted.
The l0' wide metal sign has been a target on a couple of recent occasions, but it may now be beyond repair after the word 'County' was blanked out twice with black and white spray-paint. Other such targets have also included 'Eden Project' signs. Pippa Englefield said: 'I urge the perpetrators to use legal methods to get their message across, and not to blight Cornwall with spray-paint vandalism.'

marathon
THE final of the Olympic women's marathon, in which Looe's Marian Sutton will be competing, will start at llpm on Saturday September 23 UK time.
Beast of Bodmin
- new sighting
A NEW sighting of the Beast of Bodmin Moor has been reported. The animal was spotted by a family enjoying a picnic. It was described as a large jet-black cat approximately 5' to 6' in length with a long cat-like tail. It stood 18" to 2' high and was 'bounding' through the grass of a small meadow. Polperro on
TV again
THE village of Polperro is set to feature on television again, following the appearance by many of its locals in the series 'Cornish Chronicles', which was broadcast earlier this year.
The spiritual and social life of Polperro is to be the basis of a new six-part Carlton TV series entitled 'The Parishes of Polperro'. This will form part of the company's autumn schedule.
Dog survives fall
Coastguards raced into action on Sunday when Jem the border collie tumbled over the cliff while on a walk with his owner between Par and Polkerris.
Lucky Jem, aged six, landed on a ledge which was quite near the top of the 90' drop. He was returned safe and sound to owner Jennie Todd of Penwithick.
