Once more asset-stripped, Callington Ivies gamely held on as the visitors' openers raced to 50 in 10 overs and were almost at the hundred after 20. Sterling work by 15 year-old spinner Charlie Roberts and veteran spinner Ian Pemberton recycled as stock bowler gradually edged out Newlyn East for an enticing total nevertheless.
A familiar procession followed tea, with Ivies floundering at 25-5. Matt Horsman, Pemberton and 13 year-old Ben Philp tried the rebuild recipe employed by the bowlers, but the mortar was too thin on the day and old faithfuls Scaife and Morcom triumphed.
