This game was played at a furious pace with Queens starting the brighter and creating several chances. Callington could not keep hold of the ball and were made to look very ordinary at times and what chances came they squandered. Callington had four one-on-ones with the 'keeper but missed every one. Midway through the first half Callington took the lead through Chris Truscott who calmly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. This should have settled Calling-ton down but within a minute Queens were deservdly back on level terms and before the interval took the lead.
The second period started in the same manner with Queens again gaining the upper hand in midfield, and after 70 minutes were 4-1 up. Callington looked dead and buried but following a corner from Griffin, Hunt rose the highest and headed in from six yards. With six minutes left on the clock, Callington were awarded a penalty, but Truscott failed to hit the target. four-two down and only two minutes left Queens must have thought they had won the game but Callington came back again to level.
The first a 20 yard shot from Griffiths found the bottom left corner and yet again Simon Hunt was in the right place to head in his second to take the tie into extra time.
Once again credit Queens who bounced right back and took a 5-4 lead in the first period of extra time. Then came an off the ball incident involving Truscott and the Queens manager, and both players were dismissed from the pitch. Callington were now down to 10 men and still trailing but again they fought back to equalise with a stunning left footed drill from Taylor. Manager Paul Blatchford said this was just one of those days when too many were off their game but could not praise his players highly enough as they never gave up. Man of the match was shared between Steve Brooks and Chris Gerry.
