In front of a sizable crowd at Godolphin most of them making the long journey from Callington, and also Radio Cornwall commentating on the match it was a chance for Callington to impress. They started the game at a very fast pace and were a yard quicker in every position. Godolphin were made to defend in numbers allowing them the odd break.

The first chance for Callington came after 15 minutes a fine through ball from Jury released Gerry whose shot was brilliantly saved by the home keeper. Minutes later it was Gerry again this time down the right side whose low cross was met by Truscott who found the back of the net, but was given offside, Callington had many more chances in the first period, but stubborn defending kept the score line goal less at half time.

The second period was a different matter. Chances were coming at both ends, Fletcher in the Town goal was called upon twice to save from Chapman while Nicholls had a shot deflected just past the post. Brooks had a header saved by the home keeper as the time was ticking away it looked like one goal was going to decide this game. With 88 mins gone a fierce shot from Nicholls was flicked into the back of the net by Truscott. Godolphin had to push on in the remaining minutes, and left big gaps at the back and two further chances fell to Truscott but both times failed to hit the target. The final whistle finally went and Callington now look forward to the Eastern Final.
