Cornwall's county teams travelled to Huish Episcopi on Saturday to play Somerset in the final group match of the ESMBA Inter county championship.

Having selected the teams for this match before Christmas the selectors were faced with a number of withdrawals due to illness in the week running up to the match. The Premier team fell eight points behind after the first two sessions and were unable to come back during the afternoon and finally went down Somerset 28 pts 212 shots Cornwall eight pts 133 shots.

The third place means that the Premier team will face an away match in the Quarter finals of the consolation knockout competition on the weekend of 26-27 February.

The A team dropped all 16 points in the morning and with such a huge mountain to climb could only muster six points in the afternoon to go down Somerset 30 pts 203 shots Cornwall 6 pts 132 shots.

The fourth place means that the A team will face a home match in the Prel. round of the consolation ko competition on the weekend of 12-13 Feb.

Club Triples - On Sunday the county association held its annual Club triples competition which was again sponsored by the Dragon Leisure Centre, Bodmin. 36 teams competed for the title held by Duloe. The teams involved enjoyed many close games with 8 teams going forward to a knockout competition, which was eventually won by the Lostwithiel team of Dave Griffin, Peter Hamley and Arthur Hambley.

On Sunday 16th the association will be hosting the Under 25's singles competition at Luxulyan. This competition gives our younger bowlers a chance to show there skill and accrue county ranking points.

Liskeard Short Mat club held a fun night and faith supper on Dec 22 when a good time was held by all with prizes for the winners of some fun compet-itions. Chris Cope and Joyce Hamer were joint winners of the December club night and Paul Cummins and Shiela Hodge were joint winners of the January bowls drive.
