Cornwall County Short Mat Bowls Association - Lostwithiel struggling

The CCSMBA summer league table has been drawn up and shows the two teams from Newlyn in the west of the County leading the way.

The County points list, which is used as the basis of selecting the two County teams has just been published. This year a total of 94 bowlers have scored ranking points in one or more of the nine points accruing competitions.

After three years at the top Derek Thomas of Helston has been toppled by Pam Hamley of Lostwithiel, in part due to the 28 points collected during the season by Pam, the largest amount ever scored by an individual bowler in one season.

The list now features a total of 166 bowlers who can be considered for places in the County teams, which means that competition for places at the trials weekend will be fierce.

The top ten are:

1 (4) Pam Hamley, Lostwithiel 50

2 (5) Graham Ford, St Newlyn East 47

3 (3) Percy Tripp, Helston 44

4 (1) Derek Thomas, Helston 40

5 (9) Carol Ford, St Newlyn East 39

6 (2) Stuart Hamley, Camelford 39

- (10) Peter Hamley, Lostwithiel 36

8 (16) Carol Matthews, St Newlyn E 34

9 (8) Steve Lewis, Duloe 29

10 (7) Bryan Lewis, Duloe 26.
