The opening 10 minutes saw Launceston stretching the opposition defence without creating any clear-cut chances. However, both sides did begin to produce chances, with Millbrook having the best of the opportunities. They were thwarted by Pete West in the Launceston goal who had an outstanding game.
Launceston took the lead 10 minutes into the second half when Sean Johns finished well inside the box. Lee Cansfield equalised 10 minutes later then the game really opened up with Launceston pressing most for the winner but they were unable to finish off the opposition so extra time was needed.
Launceston once again applied the pressure during the first half of extra time but a slip at the back enabled Cansfield to score again. The spirit shown by the Launceston youngsters was great, possibly best illustrated by Alan Lendall who, despite injury, never gave up. An amazing goalmouth scramble late on was Launceston's final chance but it was not to be.
However, they have taken a major step recently and the belief as a unit is that league points will be won with increasing regularity from now on.
