Newly appointed manager Andy Pethick and his assistant Dave Moon got St Cleer off to a winning start.

For a second successive week St Breward were reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Nigel Kent in the first half. Playing the second period a man short in extreme weather conditions proved too much and in the closing 20 minutes St Breward conceded both goals. Timmy Jenkins broke the deadlock with St Cleer's first. In the 85th minute Andrew Sargent made it 2-0.

"We played very well", said manager Andy Pethick. "I'm confident that if the lads can produce the same commitment and work rate in remaining games we can get out of trouble."
