Scoring has been a problem for the Blues of late but they made a positive start against their bogey side when a long range free kick from Steve West sailed over the head of visiting 'keeper Andy Jackson and into the top corner.
It brought immediate joy to an excited Blues management and it gave Liskeard the lift they needed.
Visiting player manager Dave Ferrett organised well in his attempts to keep Liskeard at bay and midway through the half in one of only few attacks Wadebridge were awarded a penalty for pushing. Paul Rowe took the kick and struck the bar the ball rebounding off keeper Paul Lowden back to Rowe who cracked the rebound over the bar.
Having survived this golden chance Liskeard regrouped and a flashing run down the wing by Colin Barrett led to a second home goal. Inform Nick Senior created the opening with a ball play wide, Barrett crossing from the left where Jackson, under pressure from Paul Webber, failed to get any distance on his punch and the ball dropped kindly to Roger Quaintance who rifled in from six yards.
Wadebridge showed improved form in a well contested second half. In the 51st minute Barrett raced away and in a one-on-one with the keeper found the corner for Liskeard's third. Wadebridge almost immediately pulled one back through Rowe and later Tyson McFarlane missed a good chance but there was no denying that Liskeard were the better unit on the day and deservedly go through. "What a way to bounce back after losing to Saltash last week", said joint manager Martin Hodge. "The lads really wanted it I'm delighted."
