Hopes that Caradon area will at last get concessionary bus transport for elderly and disabled residents were raised at a recent council meeting.

No schemes for concessionary transport exist in the Caradon area, although some residents do benefit from cheaper fares on Devon vehicles coming over the Cornish boundaries Neighbouring areas in Devon and other districts of Cornwall do have such schemes

In the past the costs have been deemed to out of range for the wide areas of Caradon but at the recent full Caradon Council meeting it was accepted that a concessionary travel scheme must be investigated.

Any scheme should be ready for 2001 onwards and the Transportation and Social Exclusion Working Parties have been delegated to provide a joint report.
