Around 100 dippers in fancy dress costumes took to the water on New Year's Day at Cawsand beach in East Cornwall for charity. The annual dip organised by the local Lions Club gave the dippers the opportunity to raise money for their own particular charity, watched by thousands of spectators.
After the judging of the best fancy dress had taken place, all the dippers paraded through the village of Kingsand to Cawsand beach. The bright sunshine hid the near freezing air temperature and the sea at 7°C, as the dippers, cheered on by the crowds, ran down the beach into the water.
The Lions provided warm drinks for everyone as they came out of the water and hope to have raised thousands of pounds for a variety of charities.
