The coastal path between Looe and Polperro, which was closed for more than five years, has been reopened thanks to the generosity of a local family.

Cracks appeared at Talland Bay following unprecedented rainfall in the winter of 2013/14. Part of the path was closed in February 2014 and a diversion put in place inland via the steep Sand Hill.

There has been a long-running negotiation with Cornwall Council since, say local residents, to try and repair and reinstate the path.

The Allsopp family, who live at Talland House, have gifted part of their garden in order to enable the coastal route to be diverted slightly and a new path has been created.
