A tanker driver got way more than he bargained for when his Sat Nav tried to take him over the Fowey River.
The French delivery driver only discovered too late as he navigated in darkness late on Tuesday night that the narrow road at Bodinnick ends abruptly on the ferry slipway.
The lorry was pulled up the hill yesterday morning by a breakdown recovery company with the aid of a local farmer and his tractor.
Alan Toms of the Bodinnick Ferry said: ’The driver’s Sat Nav brought him down the hill and he ended up jack-knifed on the ferry slipway. I don’t know where he was going - we took it he was going to Fowey.
‘He was a Frenchman, and didn’t speak any English, when we spoke to him he was using Google Translate.’
This photo showing the tanker’s dramatic entry into the river was taken by Fowey boatman John Barker.
