I hesitate to question such august bodies as National Heritage, BBC London, Yorkshire TV (Countdown) and West Country Television quoted in Mr W.J. Pomroy's letter of last week.
Nevertheless, I think it should be pointed out that at midnight on 31st Dec. 1999 the clock will tick on to 2,000 years exactly. One second later the time will be 2,000 years AND one second.
By 15th February the time will be 2,000 years AND 46 days.
When 1st January 2001 is reached the time will be 2,000 years AND twelve months plus one day.
I would have thought that any time accruing after the clock shows exactly 2,000 years would have to be counted as part of the FOLLOWING one thousand years. (3rd Millennium).
