I think that the £25,000 Councillor Austin seems to think the xouncil have to spare would be much better spent clearing up the rubbish and litter that adorns Liskeard, especially the Lake Lane Estate area.
This estate is covered in litter, garden rubbish, dog mess and every kind of mess you can think of. If you walk along the lane from Passmore Close towards the park, the amount of litter is unbelievable with garden rubbish pushed in every available spot, bits of old beds, old newspapers, carrier bags and overhanging trees.
One of the houses on the estate starts to put rubbish out on a Saturday morning and by next Friday morning it has become a mountain, and not all household rubbish either. It has been reported to the council several times but has never been stopped.
At the back of one set of old peoples' bungalows there are large amounts of moss and when it freezes it is lethal. It has been reported several times to the council but nothing has happened.
The Lake Lane Estate used to be a very nice clean estate and people were very happy, but not any longer, as most of the residents feel the same way I do.
If the council don't believe how much rubbish and litter is on Lake Lane, I am quite willing to use my camera and take photos and send them to the Cornish Times.
How long ago is it since any member of the council walked round the estate to see what is going on. The estate is slowly becoming a slum and if I was sitting on the council I would be ashamed.
