A sum of £5,000 has been recommended for use to improve street cleaning throughout Caradon after being identified by the district council's policy and resources committee as an area for priority funding.

Attention was drawn to the difficulties of the increasing volume of litter, but it was said short term problems in particular areas were being addressed.

It has also been recommended that charge of £10 for a maximum of four items is introduced for the collection of bulky waste from April l this year.

The suggestion came from Dawn Austin who said she did not foresee any significant increase in fly tipping. Her view was supported by John Yaxley who recalled that the council had previously identified the collection of bulky waste as a potential charging area.
