New Year's Day being mild and dry we decided to take the children to the beach for a walk and play with a ball.

Sadly, we chose Par Sands. A few steps on to the beach and we had to pick our way through a mess of debris. Various nets and ropes, all kinds of containers and even discarded vegetables.

Worst of all, the dog droppings which littered the beach. Most of the debris had obviously been there for some time. Broken plastic containers being brittle and dangerously sharp. I have never seen such a dirty beach and would hesitate to take an animal there, let alone a child.

Those responsible for the beach should get it cleaned up as soon as possible, in the interest of public health and safety.
