MORE than £1,000 was raised by an event run by Callington Methodist Church. Members and friends created scenes that went on display in the church's Christmas Caves and Fayre. The scenes included 'The Nativity', '12 days of Christmas,' and 'Humpty Dumpty' with the cave walk finishing with a visit from Father Christmas. Lunches and seasonal refreshments were served throughout the event and there were plenty of Christmas gifts on sale. Competition winners were – name the doll: Margaret Martin and Tanisha Brandon, name the teddy: Kelly from Kevin Coopers, guess the weight of the cake: Eric Priestly and Ruth Rickard. The event, organised by Tony and Jill Rickard, raised £1,700 which will be divided between Derriford Hospital's children's cancer service, Asthma UK and Callington Methodist Church.
