LANREATH’S Community Choir sang on board the Santander ferry as they embarked on a five-day trip to Spain.

The choir, who were an official part of the inboard entertainment during the crossing, delighted the many Cornish passengers with their rendition of ‘This is My Cornwall’.

A 30-strong party of choir members and their friends took part in the sightseeing holiday.

‘We arrived to a sunny welcome in Santander where the coach took us to the beautiful Sardinero beaches, and we then spent a few hours in the city itself,’ a choir spokesperson said.

‘The hotel Mogros was our home for the next couple of days. After a three course meal, complete with Sangria and Rioja, we sang again in the hotel.’

A tour of Bilbao and the villages of San Vicente and Potes were on the following days’ itinerary, with some brave members taking the cable car up trip up the Picos Mountains.

Highlights of the return crossing were sighting dolphins, and singing once again for passengers under the direction of Helen White.

The spokesperson said: ‘Many thanks to Helen White, to Christine Puckey our pianist and to Marion Facey, who organised the trip. It was greatly enjoyed by all.’
