Pupils of Burraton County Primary School raised money at their autumn fair to pay for the ingredients for 60 Christmas cakes, which they made under the supervision of the school's catering staff, and they presented them to pensioners on Monday morning. A special programme was given first by the children of each year with items from their Christmas concerts which included The Snowman, handbell ringing, a clockwork dolls dance and TV programmes. Martin Bell, headteacher, welcomed the senior citizens who later enjoyed tea and cake. The children then presented them each with an individual Christmas cake to take home. This tradition has been going on in the school for some years and senior citizens from the area and local residential homes were the guests. They said they thoroughly enjoyed their morning at the school, and it had made their Christmas.
