Nursey-nurse Claire Wakem has achieved her Modern Apprenticeship comprising NVQ level 3 in child care and education from Saltash College.

Claire, who works at Sunnybanks Nursery in St Ann's Chapel, began her Modern Apprenticeship in January l998. She attended workshops at the college one day a week and was assessed on her performance at work. NVQ level 3 is equivalent to an NNEB qualification or A-levels.

Jenny Phillips, childcare tutor at the college, said: 'We are delighted that Claire has gained her Modern Apprenticeship, and are sure that this will launch her on a satisfying and successful career in childcare.'

concert

PUPILS at Fowey Primary School will be holding a concert at the school on April 12.

The event will be staged by youngsters who play an instrument, to demonstrate their hard work and skill. The concert will take place at 7pm.
