The Liskerret male voice choir have just returned from a successful tour of the Cotswold, when they set up base in Cheltenham.
Arrangements for the weekend away were made by concert secretary Adrian Wilton. The choir were guests of the Gloucester and district Cornish Association. The concert, brought together through their secretary Mike Hoskin and president Mike Wills, was held at Longlevens church, just outside Cheltenham.
Guest soloist for the evening was Elizabeth Williams, daughter of Mr Hoskin. Before the concert began Peter Nunn, canon of the Holy Trinity church, Longlevens, said he would hold a minuet's silence for those involved in the Paddington rail disaster as Cheltenham had been the departure point for many on the express train involved.
Adrian Wilton was compere for the evening, and the choir performed a total of 17 pieces, Elizabeth Williams singing songs such as 'Bless this House' and 'Let It Be Me'.
Thanks went to musical director Tom Rees and accompanist Margaret Platt, as well as all the supporters who joined the choir on the trip.
Next year the members will combine with many of the Cornish choirs at the Royal Albert Hall, London. Anyone interested in joining the choir should attend a Monday night practice at Liskeard sports club at 7.30pm or telephone Bob Dean on 01579 345532.
