PEOPLE in South East Cornwall will have the chance to quiz the leader of the county council next week.

John Pollard and his deputy Adam Paynter will be in Saltash tomorrow (Wednesday, December 9), to meet and talk to people at an ‘Open Doors’ public event.

The senior councillors want to hear about the things that are important to local communities and residents.

They have already visited Liskeard and other towns across the county as part of the initiative.

Cllr Pollard and Cllr Paynter said that they are ready and willing to discuss any issues with people who attend.

In a message to the public, Cllr Pollard said: ‘These sessions are your opportunity to come along and talk with us about the things that really matter to you.

‘I hope that as many people as possible will be able to meet with us and share their views.’

Bob Austin, chair of the Cornwall Gateway Community Network Panel, said: ‘The Open Doors event is a chance for local people to put the kinds of local issues we normally discuss at the community network panel directly to the leader and deputy leader of Cornwall Council. 

‘It’s a good opportunity to share our priorities and concerns and find out more about how they fit into a Cornwall-wide agenda.’

The event takes place at 6.30pm at the Saltash Town Council offices in the Guildhall.
