A LISKEARD jeweller is offering Cornish Times readers the chance to win a very special figurine.

’Peace’ is an 18cm high, hand-painted bronze figure of a child, designed by artist Michael Simpson to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

A limited edition of only 75 pieces are available through Richard Cooper and Company, and the figurine is valued at around £300.

Tina Mollard of Time and Motion says she wants to be able to offer local people something special to treasure at a time when everyone is going through difficulties.

’So many people have given generously and made sacrifices during this pandemic,’ she said.

’I think it’s nice to be able to give something back without people having to pay anything.’

One of the striking and delicate Peace figures is currently the focal point of a window display that Tina has created celebrating the anniversary of VE Day as well as in tribute to the NHS.

’I had just three of these beautiful and very special figurines,’ says Tina.

’One has gone to a customer, a 90 year old lady who happened to be at Buckingham Palace at the moment the end of the Second World War in Europe was announced.

’One, I will keep in the shop, and I would like someone else in the Liskerd area to have the chance of having the other.’

To be in with a chance of winning a linited edition ’Peace’ figurine, simply answer the following question: How many years is it since the Second World War ended?

Answers should be sent in an email with the subject line ’VE Day competition’ to [email protected]. As well as your answer, the email should contain your full name, address and contact telephone number. This is an email only competition at present due to the coronavirus restrictions. Deadline for entries is June 15.

Tina says: ’Please let your friends and relatives know about this one-off competition as I would like as many people as possible to have the chance of entering.

’If you know of anyone who would love to have the Peace figurine who is not online, perhaps submit an entry on their behalf!’
