Pupils, governors and staff at Looe Community School have been celebrating their success in the recently-published league tables for school performance. Looe came top of the 2005 Cornwall league table for the number of pupils achieving GSCE five or more A*-C grades with 73 per cent. The Cornwall average 55.8 per cent and nationally the average was 57.1 per cent. Headteacher Heather Jenkins said: 'We are immensely proud of the achievement of of our students and I congratulate them and our very committed team of staff for their tremendous hard work. 'I believe it is the focus on learning, fun, monitoring, individual support, opportunities, and team effort which have contributed to this achievement.'
