A call for carnival royalty has gone out to boys and girls in Liskeard.

The new carnival King or Queen and attendants will represent the town at summer events in Liskeard and across East Cornwall. And a definite highlight of the role is switching on the Christmas lights at Liskeard’s popular lantern procession in December.

Capes, headgear and outfits are provided free of charge to the carnival royalty trio, who will then get to keep their dresses and shoes as a souvenir of the experience.

Applicants between the ages of six and 12 and their parents should fill out the application form on the Lions Club website and the closing date for submissions is May 1; hard copies of the application form will also be available at the Lions Club Easter Bingo on April 16.
