CARE workers in Cornwall are set to be paid £8.84 per hour as part of a pledge by county leaders to improve care services for the elderly and vulnerable.
Plans agreed by Cornwall Council’s Cabinet on Wednesday include implementing the National Living Wage Foundation rate of pay, paying care workers for their travel time, mileage and five days of training, and getting rid of 15 minute visits to clients, which Cabinet member for Adults Rob Rotchell said ‘undermine dignity’.
