Torpoint Athletic manager Ricky Cardew is keeping his cards close to his chest about new signings for the coming campaign.

Cardew took his charges to Tregantle beach for training in an effort to make the League champions the fittest in the compeitition at the start of the new season.

'I cant say to much yet about any changes in personnel – it's a bit to early for that,' admitted Cardew.

Torpoint had a good turnout for the training session on the strength-sapping sand as they prepare for their three pre-season friendly fixtures.

First up is the visit to the Mill on Wednesday, July 29, by Division One side St Stephens Borough.

Next up is a trip to Camelford on Tuesday, August 6, to play their Carlsberg South West Peninsula League West side before ending with a visit to Callington Town's South West Peninsula League side.

Torpoint kick off their ECPL Premier Division campaign with a visit to Sticker on August 15.

Millbrook were also in training on Tregantle beach, with both the first and second team being put through their paces.

When given the choice of either going for a swim or tackling a steep grassy bank to round off the training, most of the first team chose the water!

New East Cornwall League team manager Ryan Swiggs is looking for a good start to the season, saying: 'I am looking forward to it, but we can only do our best.'

The team travel with the first team to Liverton United, where they will play the Devon side's seconds after the first-team encounter. Next up is a visit to Staddiscombe on Tuesday, July 28, before receiving Old Suttonians on Saturday, August 1.
