Caradon's 'Gardening Tax'

With regard to Caradon's new profit-making scheme, which Caradon Council will know as selling the unsuspecting public that which they do not require, at a price they cannot afford.

I refer of course to Caradon rubbish bags for garden waste at 50p per bag. This situation reached farcical proportions on Thursday, July 8, when my wife found a couple of leaves on our path, which she quite reasonably put in the rubbish bag which was already out for collection.

Imagine our annoyance on Friday morning, when we found the bag had not been taken. I know it is a waste of time applying logic to something, that it is nothing more than an exercise in profiteering, but consider: the ridiculous cost of the bags (designed only for profit); the rubbish goes in the back of the vehicle with all the other bags, which means there is no need to bag it separately in the first place.

This draconian measure was taken without any consultation with those who would have to pay; having to buy 10 bags even though you may only need one, which effectively makes the price £5n to have one bag collected.

My wife buys flowers and arranges them for her local church. Does Caradon suggest that the extraneous stems she cuts off (maybe two dozen at most) should be separately stored in a 50p Caradon bag?

This is nothing more than an erroneous Gardening Tax. They will find that the public will not be duped this time, and they should never underestimate the might of the Ballet Box. I suggest Caradon rethink this nasty little small-minded tax, or face a demonstration of the public's wrath.
