Fed up with not having understood a word that your garage mechanic has said? Then come along to one of these Saturday workshops and learn his language. We will be taking apart a small engine and examining all the working parts and their servicing requirements. We will also look at the operating principles of most other parts of a car and learn what makes it go/not go. Your car's exhaust may be baffled, but you needn't be! Please bring a packed lunch and flask (sufficient for mid-morning and lunchtime.)

The class will meet on 20 March, 17 April, 22 May, 19 June, 17 July. The first class (20 March) will be held in Laity House, Liskeard, after which there will be outside visits each month. This course will cover planning and caring for your own garden and identification, propagation, planting and pruning of plants. Limited to 14 students.

A circular countryside or coast walk each Thursday morning to enjoy local and natural history locations on the north and south coast and Bodmin Moor. Each walk will be up to 5 miles at moderate pace. Learn about the archaeology, history and geology of the areas concerned. The first walk on 30 September will start from Minions car park, map ref: 0S 259712 (by the Hurlers). Other walks will commence in Kingsand, Padstow, St Neot, Cardinham, Tintagel, Port Quin, Polperro, Polruan and Cremyll. Full details at the first class. Please bring walking boots or wellies and waterproofs!

Students will learn the basic chords and scales, a number of right-hand playing styles with an insight into reading music. The emphasis is on clarity, simplicity and enjoyment. Illustrated throughout with well-known songs.

A course which is offered in response to requests from students of previous beginners' courses for a more advanced class. It will emphasise playing together and will include song arrangement, playing from music and by ear, becoming familiar with the more difficult keys, diatonic scales and their chords (including chord construction) and partial and full alternate tunings.
