COURSES QUALIFYING FOR TAX RELIEF: Under the Finance Act 1991 a student who enrols for certain vocational courses will, in most cases, be eligible to receive up to 23% tax relief by deduction from the normal gross fee. The student does not have to be a tax payer to qualify for relief nor does it depend upon his/her financial circumstances. Where a student enrols in person at a centre, he/she will be given a claim form together with notes explaining eligibility. Upon completion of the form and confirmation of eligibility, the net fee for the particular course will be collected. Where a student enrols by post, he/she must forward the gross fee for the relevant course. The claim forms for relief and explanatory notes will then be distributed for completion and return at the first class. Students completing the claim forms and qualifying for relief will subsequently receive a refund of the difference between gross and net fee for the relevant course by mail. Fees other than course fees relating to any of the courses in this section (such as examination fees), may also be eligible for relief at the time of payment. Advice may be obtained at the Liskeard Office.
