LISKEARD Churches Together will be bringing ‘Car Park Carols’ back this year – and this time the event is in Westbourne Car Park in the town centre.

The evening of carols and celebration of the Christmas story is set to take place on Sunday December 19 from 7.30pm and will include lights, sound, stage and a big screen.

A spokesperson for St Martin’s Church said: “Although we’ll have a cordoned-off pedestrian area, Westbourne is still a public car park which needs to remain open, so if you’re driving in hoping to enjoy from your car, that may well be possible, but we can’t guarantee your space. Our traffic marshalling team will do their best to help.”

Unlike the 2020 Car Park Carols, this year’s event is not ticketed. The ‘doors’ open at 7pm with Liskeard Silver Band playing carols as people arrive, for an official start at 7.30pm.

At a recent Town Council meeting, members agreed to give a £500 grant towards the staging of Car Park Carols, with a condition being that the event be held in a town centre location again next year.

“A huge thank you to Liskeard Town Council and Cornwall Council for their help in making the event happen this year,” said the spokesperson.

“It’ll be a very special evening and a great way to celebrate the reason for the season.”
