ANY win is a good result. But when you are away from home and chasing 260, it is something special to come back and win. After winning the toss, Troon understandably chose to bat on a hot afternoon. They got off to a good start as Matt and Mark Rowe put on 96 in 24 overs before the guile of Jon Nicholls dismissed Matt for 42. Mark went on to score 66 from 82 balls before he hit one out to long on and was picked up by Dom Farris, again off Nicholls. After that the Troon innings revolved around 15- year-old Mark Jenkin and, although the visiting bowlers stuck manfully to their tasks, Jenkin remained unbeaten on 86 including four sixes, assisted at the end by Adrian Rodda with an unbeaten 21. Nicholls took four for 56 from his 12 overs and the other wicket went to Jim Shorten as Troon set the large target of 260 to win. Simon Fitze and Jamie Hatch put on a sharp 40 before Fitze went for 26 and Hatch was out soon afterwards for 30. Farris went cheaply and, at 74 for three, the target seemed light years away. It was then that the partnership of the game began to take shape between Andy Hocking and Peter Tancock. At the beginning, Tancock took the lead as the pair rattled up 107 for the fourth wicket when Tancock was well caught after hitting a superb 62 from 74 balls. After that, the away fans could just sit back and enjoy the display of hard hitting from Andy Hocking. With 80 still needed, he and Tony Farrant knocked them off with Farrant only contributing nine runs. Hocking was immense as bowler after bowler was dispatched to all corners of the ground. His undefeated 108 came from 114 balls in 133 minutes and included 12 fours and three sixes as Callington passed the Troon total with four balls to spare.
