A special day
CHRISTMAS Day was made special for many people when they met in the Mustard Seed Church Hall for a traditional Christmas lunch prepared by local chef, Tony Soper. He gave his time to cook the delicious meal for people who would otherwise have been on their own. Entertainment was provided by friends from the Mustard Seed Church, and the afternoon ended with tea and Christmas cake which had been kindly donated.
Brotherhood meeting
ON SUNDAY, January 6, Callington Brotherhood held their first meeting of the New Year.
Members were pleased to welcome back the president Don Mutton who presided, after his spell in hospital.
Sharing in the service, guest soloist Mrs Jackie Todd sang two gospel songs and read a poem by May Uglow.
A seasonal message was given by local preacher David Wenmoth, taking as his text a verse from St John's gospel, chapter one. 'And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth. God with us.'
The lesson was read by Fernley Burrows. Barry Higgins was accompanist for the singing.
Society secretary Brian Mutton reported that over the Christmas period, the Brotherhood had sent gifts of money totalling £750 to 17 worthy charities.
