Coffee Morning.
On Saturday 16 June there will be a Coffee Morning in St. Mary's Church and the proceeds will go towards the Church Improvement Fund. This fund is to enable an extension to be added to the church providing kitchen and toilet facilities.

THE meeting of Callington United Sisterhood was presided over by Rev Ann Curnow.
Happy Thoughts were read by Margaret Brough on Smiles, Ida Duke on Kindness and Elsie Trevorrow on Looking Back.
'Childish Things' was the topic of the speaker, Rev Howard Curnow. Pianist was Elsie Trevorrow and tea and biscuits were served by Edie Pridham and Joyce Bartram.

LOCAL preacher Norman Rowe from St Keyne was the speaker at Callington Brotherhood's meeting on Sunday.
Musical items were given by member Raymond Rich, who sang two hymns accompanied by organist Barry Higgins.
Fernley Burrows read the lesson and Howard Tamblyn led the prayers. Society Chairman, Brian Mutton, was the chairman.
The Stowford Meadow Singers are giving a concert for the brotherhood at 2.30pm on June 10. There will be a collection for the Childrens Hospice South West.
Town regeneration
work continues
CALLINGTON town centre has been the site of major refurbishment as continuing regeneration works take place.
The first phase of the County Council environmental enhancement scheme in the Pannier Market has been completed, with a mural to be added soon. The Town Square by St Mary's Church is currently undergoing transformation with a view of making the site more open and user friendly. The bus station areas are also currently being refurbished.

Methodist Juniors
MEMBERS, family and friends filled Callington Methodist Church both morning and evening to see the children of the Junior Church perform 'Jonah Man Jazz' at their anniversary celebration last week.
Rev Valerie Honey led both the services ably assisted by Tamara Gist and Nicola Pethick.
The title role of Jonah was played by Ross Williams, whose dad took the part of God. Narrators were Claire Pethick, Nathan Luckhurst, Jade May, Louise Scandrett and Tamsyn Strange. The two boatmen were played by Deborah Bunkum and Kerrick Drewe and the whales were played by Hannah Luckhurst and Katie Waterman.
The crew of 'Sweet as Honey' and the townspeople of Nineveh were played by Nicola Pethick, Claire and Emily Weeks, Shaun Pengelly, Alex and Beth Pridham, Marcus Williams, Jennifer Boase, Abby Scandrett and Jenny and Kerensa Strange.
Lively musical accompaniment was provided by Ken Pethick on the piano and Leah Rickard on the saxophone.
