CONCERN is growing over road safety following three serious incidents in the same area in the last month.

In the past few weeks, three cars have crashed off the A387 near Morval and there are calls to reduce the speed limit on the road.

Tracy Chudleigh, Morval parish councillor, said: 'At the moment, the speed limit is 60 mph but people find it difficult to cope with the corners.

'There is a stretch of straight road at the top and so a lot of people tend to put their foot down and go as fast as they can and don't realise how dangerous it is.

Warning

'There have been three accidents in the last month. The whole road is dangerous and sooner or later there will be a fatality.'

When asked if reducing the speed limit would stop people driving so fast, she said: 'I know that it will not be easy to enforce but at least the warnings will be in place for drivers.'

County councillor George Hocking said: 'What we have done is put warning notices up about the dangers of that particular stretch of road.

'The aim is to get the road downgraded to a 45mph zone and that will be decided at a forthcoming council meeting.'
