CALLINGTON Methodist Junior Church has had a very busy few weeks. On September 18 they held their Celebration Service led by Rev Anne Curnow. This was followed by a buffet lunch for 44 people organised by the teachers (Kathryn, Rosemary, Annette, Monica, Louise and Tania) with delicious puddings provided by helpers. Donations realised £98 for the Shekinah Mission in Plymouth. Nathan and Marcus, two of the Junior Church members took part on Saturday 8th October in the national 'Splash Out' at Saltash Leisure Centre. Between them they swam 74 lengths and raised over £200 for the National Children's Home. On October 15 the young people ran stalls at their annual coffee morning. Whilst Louise and Sue ran the bric-a-brac and cakes stall, Tania and Monica served drinks and delicious homemade cakes. Stalls included ping-pong 'keepie-uppies' won by Ross with an amazing score of 344 and a very popular 'Sonny the Seal' hoop-la run by Shaun and Darren. Sue won the 'Rush Hour' game organised by Nathan and Alistair, Barbara correctly guessed the name of the doll – Belinda – and Tony found Marcus' treasure on the map. The event was well supported and raised £146.25 for The White Cross Mission, working in Romania, run by Rev Canon Pat Robson MBE from Truro.
