South East Cornwall will see a new pub opening this summer – with a regional finalist in a national TV chef competition as one of the people at the helm.

The Carew Arms in the village of Antony, near Torpoint, and previously known as The Ring O’Bells, is currently undergoing extensive renovation. It is due to reopen in mid-July as a collaboration between Emily Watkins, winner with her fish course of the 2014 South West regional heats on BBC2’s Great British Menu, and Tremayne Carew Pole, founder of the travel and restaurant guide book series Hg2, A Hedonist’s Guide to... The pair say that the Carew Arms will aim to ‘bring affordable, field-to-fork cooking to an underrepresented part of Cornwall’.
