The initiative is part of a new agreement between the two organisations which sees Tribute become the official beer of Cornwall Cricket. The Tribute branding will be on the stumps of adult cricket clubs across the county this season while the sponsorship fee will be distributed amongst the clubs who sign up to help them with their running costs.
Each month St Austell Brewery will also give a case of its award-winning Cornish pale ale to the player with the most wickets achieved through clean bowling a batsman.
Joe Skinner, development manager for Cornwall Cricket, said: ’Through this agreement Cornwall Cricket is now able to provide our community cricket clubs with some much-needed financial support for the first time. We are proud to be playing such a key role in sustaining the health of the game in the county. I hope as many clubs as possible get involved.’
Marc Bishop of St Austell Brewery, said: ’St Austell Brewery has a long history of supporting grassroots sport in the region. This is a great opportunity for local clubs to access some funding to help with the costs of running a club.’
