Latest figures show Cornwall now has more than 20,000 companies for the first time.

At the end of April, 20,078 businesses were registered, according to company formation specialists Inform Direct, based on statistics from Companies House and the Office of National Statistics.

These figures follow on from Cornwall enjoying a record year for new business during 2016 when 2,468 were registered in the county compared to 2,392 in 2015.

This gave an increase of 4.2% in the total number of companies at the end of 2016 –19,655 versus 18,859 at the end of 2015.
