HOLIDAY company Haven is providing over 40 new jobs in Devon and Cornwall as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme.

This scheme provides job placements for 16 to 24-year olds currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

The job opportunities offered by Haven are across food and beverage, retail, activities and leisure, and HR. Full training is provided so applicants need not have prior experience before applying for the roles.

“We understand how hard the pandemic has been for everyone especially those trying to get into work,” said chief executive of Bourne Leisure Paul Flaum.

“As a result of Covid we have increased the number of roles we have available, particularly on our parks and resorts, and are now looking to recruit people to a number of these via the Kickstart program.”

All roles are for a minimum 25 hours a week over the six-month placement period, with the aim being toprovide applicants with a chance to gain solid work training and experience and set them up for roles in the future. In addition, Haven will provide participants with a work coach and further skills training through Lifetime Training. This organisation provides various apprenticeship training and vocational courses, and will help those taking up a placement with a wide range of important employment skills, from teamwork and communications training to help with CV writing and support to help them stay in employment.

“While Kickstart will help young people get into employment, we want to ensure they are equipped to be able to continue their work journey beyond the initial placement and we feel that providing them with additional skills training will help them to succeed,” said Flaum.

“This is an exciting time to be part of the UK holiday industry but wherever their work journey takes them we believe this will provide the perfect Kickstart to their future careers.”Roles are available now via the DWP and those on Universal Credit can apply within their local Job Centres.
