Cornwall has been named the Best UK Holiday Destination in the British Travel Awards 2016 for the eighth year in a row.

The enviable feat was announced at a gala awards ceremony, held in London and attended by close to 1,000 travel industry people.

’To be named as the nation’s favourite holiday destination for eight years is a truly incredible achievement,’ said Malcolm Bell, chief executive of Visit Cornwall.

’Each and every person involved in tourism in Cornwall should be proud of this award. It represents strength in our product, brand and future and is a powerful message to be able to shout across the world.’

The Lost Gardens of Heligan also won Best UK Leisure Attraction, closely followed by the Eden project with silver, and Bude was victorious as Best UK Coastal Resort for a second year.
