A Looe baker’s shop will close its doors after 12 years of trading.

Palfreys Bakery Shop, in Fore Street, East Looe, is owned by Phil and Mandy Gibson, who say that they will not be renewing their lease when it expires on Wednesday.

‘The baking side of the business moved away from the rear of the shop two years ago and that takes place at the Millpool in West Looe,’ said Mr Gibson.

‘Our other shops in Polperro, East Looe, and the Barbican Parade, East Looe are unaffected by this closure.

’It is sad, but with the decline in bread sales over the years and increased business costs, this premises is no longer viable.
